Your Story: a day at the museum

Monday was field trip day: African American History edition. One of my favorite things about going to museums is the stories the exhibits silently tell. Looking at old uniforms, campaign buttons, school desks and dishes. Its all apart of some ones story. Even though that person is gone, their possession became something to show people a little about what life was like.

There was a part of the exhibit that showed how children would have been seated in the african american schools. One of the desks, had some markings on it. As if a young child had scrape in a design while listing to the teacher one day at school. The woman that was giving us the tour said that those were there when the museum received the desks. This was probably one of my most favorite parts about the whole museum. What was that child thinking about as he scratched away at the wood of his desk?

So many wonderful things are in that museum. As I slowly walked through everything, reading and taking pictures, half way tuning out the tour guide as she moved along much to fast for me. I gather up the information and stories. For, African Americans are a big part of this country's history and we should all be more educated on it.

My Monday was filled with a walk down history lane. And oh! how I wish I could do that more often. For I love history. So much.

  6. Funny story: I was in the play The King and I last year and the characters in the story put on a play of Uncle Tom's Cabin! I played Eliza, and it was a ton of fun. I should really read the actual story...

End of funny story. I like your blog :D
