it was summer. it was winter. it was every season in between. february couldn't make up its mind what it wanted to be.

there were threats of a blizzard, but it didn't show its face. a snow day was wanted, but instead, a day of classes took its place.

we wished for snow, yet hated the cold wind. and when it rained it poured and not a single person was dry.

midterms came and went and the realization came that there was only two months left to freshman year.
wasn't it only yesterday that we arrived? didn't we just start our first day of classes? wasn't it just christmas break? no one will ever know where the time goes.

an ache in the soul stirred to read a book. library cards were to be had. the shelves were scanned and books were picked up. it was time to dive into new places and discover new things.

the shortest month of the year, had many things hidden up it's sleeve. February may never be able to make up its mind whether it's spring or winter, but maybe it likes it that way.

the wind blew through out fingers. the temperatures fluctuated. the weeks seemed to move slowly. the air smelled of rain. jackets were zipped up one day and then left in the dorm rooms the next. it was winter one day, and spring the next.

new books were opened. pencil tips were broken. homework was assigned. it was the start of second semester. it was the start of round two.

things began to change. maybe for a while, maybe forever. friend bonds tightened. things could only go up from here.

the road to tulsa was driven. the walls were covered in paint. the streets were lined with people. the shops held unknown treasures. the sky held all the answers. the ground held all the songs.

we learned to live free in january. and january learned to break free of the stereotype.

I cannot even begin to explain to you how excited I was as I drove up the driveway to the familiar farmhouse on the hill. I cannot even describe the excitement that was flowing throughout ever inch of my body when I finally saw the friends I hadn't seen since the summer. Our screams and shouts left no one in doubt of what had just occurred when we hugged and jumped around. If you asked me to tell how I was feeling in that moment, I wouldn't have an answer. Seeing these people who know me so well, these people I've known for years now... I was beyond excited. I was equally excited to see my family. They are what makes "home" home. Hearing kids running down the hall way and jumping on my bed to wake me up in the morning, is just pure happiness. I know these next few weeks of christmas break will go by so fast. Now more than ever I wish I could slow down time, but I'll take what I can get. The partying is just getting started. Here's to a phenomenal christmas break.

Bipolar Weather

caught these two at the library on friday.

Oh, the many faces of Megan.

Typical Sunday afternoon.

Friday morning as I headed out the door to go to work, I was greeted with a fresh blanket of snow on the ground. It was quite surprising and I was rather excited about it because we haven't had a lot of snow around here, at least not a really good snow that covers the ground completely.
This snow was special though, this snow was the kind that had been plastered on to the trees. It made the whole world look like a white canvas, just waiting for colors to pop up.
Then, just like that, Sunday came it was all gone and we had hit a high of 45 plus. The snow was gone, the sun was out and the world was warming up again.
If you've had the same type of winter as we have, you should know that this has been the norm all winter. Snow fall, then a warm day a couple of days later and it all melts. Bipolar I tell you. Bipolar.
And now, we have had a drizzling rain all day and a forecast of snow for tomorrow.

In other news:
+Sunday was a pretty nice day and megan and I got to walk around a bit in Iowa City taking some pictures.
+I'm almost finish with the the Hunger Games (book one). Someone just slap me for not finishing it sooner. Its so good! I have such a hard time putting it down! Less than a month until the midnight premiere!
+Instagram is awesome. the end.

How has your week been so far?
