They say I'm a dreamer

The morning started with a cold frost covering the ground. We all rushed to the car to get out of the cold morning air. As we drove we passed bare fields that just a few months before, had corn and beans planted in the soil. Now, they were covered with frost, dead - in a sense- for the winter.

We went to appointments and then finally it was time to sit a watch a shortened version of the  Nutcracker ballet. My youngest sister was excited. She loves to dance and couldn't wait to see an actual ballet performance. We sat a watch the graceful dances glide on the stage, moving their feet and creating a stories with movement. When the sugar plum fairies came out, it was a magical wintery dance and when it ended and the curtain dropped, the crowd erupted in a roar of clapping and cheering.

I remember when I used to want to be a dancer. I often wonder if that is every young girls first dream. To be that graceful person on the stage twirling around. Some, continue on with that dream, but I found another way to express myself--through music. Its interesting to me how dreams change from when you are just a young kid running around, wanting to be everything in the world, and then you grow up and realize that trying to be everything just isn't possible and you focus on one thing or another trying to find what you actually want to do in life.

Sometimes, you just get lost and can't even remember if you really like what you're doing. You think maybe I should try something else, and you do. But for some reason that one particular thing always just pulls at you. As if its speaking, saying:
You know this is right for you.
I have often felt like this in my own life. Over the years I've tried to figure out what it is I actually want to do. I like to do so many things that its hard for me to pin down one certain thing that I want to spend my whole life doing. Maybe its because I get inspired my many things and have all these ideas spinning in my head.

But I think that the real reason is that I'm just a dreamer.

A person that will always have dreams and things that they want to do.

I picture my dream in life to be like the planets. I have one major thing (the sun) that I  mainly focus on and pursue my whole life and then I have many other things (the rest of the planets) that will also be part of my life and what I do once I get into college and even after that. All of it will spin together, all intertwining.

People often ask you what you want to do when you "grow up." When I answer that question, I give one answer: music education. But the truth is, what I want to do goes way beyond that and is so many different things that I don't even have it figured out yet.

I don't know about you, but whenever I see a quote about never giving up on a dream it automatically jumps at me. Its almost as if that quote was written just for me to read. Telling me, don't give up on dreams.

I often wonder what this world would be like if everyone would keep their dreams alive and never gave up on them. What kind of world would we live in?

"You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one" -John Lennon
