Headed there again || Midwest Bible Camp

IMG_2779IMG_2851

W O O D.  A I R.  R E F R E S H.
The month of June has never had any other definition then "camp month" for me. Ever since I was a kid, nothing else happened in June. I never went anywhere else. I was always at Midwest Bible Camp (MWBC), a place that as a kid only meant friends and fun, but became to be so much more during junior high and especially high school.

At the end of last summer, I was left hoping that my camp experience wouldn't end with me being a "high school graduate." I wasn't sure if that was going to be a reality or not. But God seemed to have more camp adventures for me and I ended up being roped into 3 different sessions this year.

Although my experience at camp will be completely different than my "camper years," I am beyond excited to see what happens, (nervous also, but that's just normal.) I find that the best way to live life is to say: where will this adventure take me?
I've never regretted anything yet.

I'll talk to you at the end of June friends, with many photos and stories to share.

An evening out on the town for ice cream and company. Grass between our toes, we ran to the swings. Funny how a small thing can make you feel alive and free. It made me think of a memory from long ago, when I used to listen to "Adventure's in Odyssey." There was an episode in which one of the kids says to Mr. Whittaker:
"Aren't you to old to be swinging?"
To which he replied, "Well, how old do you have to be?"
It reminded me that swinging is a timeless thing. No matter the age, swinging always makes you feel infinite.

iii. coffee house drinks. also hanging out with those two crazies.

iv. first yotty's of the summer.

v. getting nostalgic over camp. also sad because this is the first year I can't be a camper.

vii. finally getting to spend a rainy day inside with a book.

SIDE NOTE: I'm pumped to get this blog going again this summer. It's always been a creative outlet for me photography and writing wise and I'm super excited to start putting stuff on it again. Especially sharing all the things I haven't had time to share in the past months (like my trip to Colorado). Writing, photography and summer. It's gonna be good.

lately + closing.

It's never clear why the months seem to pass so quickly. One minute you are welcoming a new month, and the next it's over and time for another one. It seems like only yesterday that it was the first of july. Summer had barely begun and we looked to the sun ready to embrace the summer.
Now, as summer is slowing coming to a close, I find myself trying to cram everything I  possibly can into the last few days of freedom. These end-of-summer-days have so far consisted of:
+ice cream trips
+water fights
+watching the dark knight rises
+lunch with friends from far away
+watching the olympics
+rooting for the fab five
+dorm room shopping

Summer is coming to an end. It's closing down and being packed away until next year, when we need sun-kissed hair and freckled faces again.

fair week || 2012

FILMED WITH || itouch 4th generation + canon powershot SD1400 IS

Fair week is something I honestly look forward to. We hang out at the grounds every evening. We watch as our friends accomplish things and win. We look through the photo building multiple times. We gather on rodeo night and for a little while, we get a taste of true country living and good old western fun. Our shoes are dusty, our cameras snap away and we just let go and have a blast. One of the best parts this year was showing all of this "western" and "american-ness" to a french lady. What a fab time!

my friend anne received reserve in showmanship and then grand-champion in agility in the dog show.
Mel didn't like the sheep sheering contest.
yes that is just a cup of ice. I'm pretty sure they got about 6 of those that day.

One of my favorite things to do at the fair is just to stand back and watch it all. All the hustle and bustle. Listen to all the animal sounds, the people sounds, the fair sounds. I let myself enjoy every minute of it and it was wonderful. What a fantastic fair week.
