dear september

IMG_0743 DSC_0051 DSC_0073

dear september,
I'm seeing you through different eyes this year. Usually you are full of transition. You breathe color into the leaves, you put the grass to sleep and cloudy and cool days are abundant. This year, I'm seeing this change come more slowly. Around here, things are still green, and sunny accompanied with 90 degrees has been more common than the usual fall weather. I'm sure you'll come around some day and blow summer away and let fall move in. Maybe you just need an extra push, for I know that August just wants to stay around for as long as it can. But push it out of the way so the sweatshirts and chai teas can come out. Push it aways so the cold noses and scarves can come out. Push it away so that we can enjoy fall for as long as possible before cold, harsh winter comes around. Gather your strength September, for October and November will thank you. You pave the way September, so push summer out of the way.

Recap: Weekend

{Yes I'm aware its tuesday... I can still do a weekend post okay? :) }

Friday Night. Friday night Megan and I had a lovely evening laughing at a tv show and eating way to much popcorn. It was so nice to just relax and chill, while having fun as well!

Foggy Mornings. I love fog. Especially in the mornings. Saturday was on of those mornings.

Musical. One thing you should know about me is that, I absolutely love love LOVE theatre productions, especially if they are musicals. This weekend, some of my friends and I went to see Tom Sawyer: the musical. Oh my goodness. Possibly the best thing I've ever seen. It was so good. so good. Cast was great, the live music was great. My heart will be happy for a while. Not to mention, I still have the songs that they sang stuck in my head.

Memories. I discovered a piece from my childhood at the library on sunday. Did any of you ever read the "Boxcar Children" when you were younger? Oh my goodness. If you didn't, you missed out. I loved those books. Read many of them three or four times. In order to complete your childhood, you should go read the first four. Its required.

Library. Libraries just make me happy. Every Sunday we take a trip down the the library and spend a couple of hours there. The smell of books and the vast amounts literature. Its so fantastic. I of course headed to the Mark Twain section because after watching that amazing play, I wanted to read the book naturally!

Downtown. I love taking pictures of the city. Sunday afternoon I got the perfect opportunity to do just that. I was lovely. People walked around, kids playing, leaves blowing... ah yes. It was lovely indeed.

How was your weekend? Do anything fun?

Up with the birds

If I have never expressed how much I love autumn, let it now be said that I absolutely adore it. I look forward to this time of year, every year.

I anticipate the beauty and color it brings. The burning of leaves and hot coco. The cool weather and leaves crunching under your feet. The farmers in field, bring in the crops. The sweatshirts and the pumpkins. The feast that comes at the very end, that is filled with delicious hot dishes and times with family. How can you not love this season?

And now, with the coming of November this season almost over. My most favorite time of year is coming to a close. Soon there will be snow on the ground. Instead of light jackets we will adorn heavy winter coats. The world will turn into black, grey and white for what seems like the never ending season known as, winter.

Oh fall. I am going to miss you.

p.s. bouns points for you if you know who sang the song that is the title of this post! (:

p.p.s And yes to do realize that this post has nothing to do with birds.

Simple Beauty

A few weeks ago, when the trees were just barely beginning to change. When the world was just beginning to shut down for the cold season ahead, I took a most pleasurable ride on a gorgeous nature trail.

I've always loved bike rides. Something about the calm rhythm of the peddles as you ride along just erases any stress or worry and you just... glide.

Calmly riding along, with leaves crunching under the fast moving wheel, listening to Mumford and sons, coldplay, adele and many other great autumn feeling songs is something I could do for hours if I could.

Riding on this trail is like an adventure. Its always changing day after day. It never looks the same.
One day while riding, I went just a bit farther than normal, and discover this gorgeous metal bridge.
I paused to just breathe and listen to the slow moving water underneath and the chipping birds, a sound that is slow become a rare thing to hear.

I'm addicted to riding on this trail. An hour at least is a must. Going about 6 miles is something that has become so effortless and easy, all because of the incredible beauty of nature and the fields now bare of the crops and trees slowly loosing their leaves that now cover the ground in a colorful, crunchy blanket.
I get lost in mindless though as I ride, loosing track of the time, and heading back pondering the next time I will able to ride on the beaten path of this piece of simple beauty.
